Mr Sheridan has been refused leave to appeal which would have his perjury conviction referred to the Court of Appeal. The former politician was imprisoned for three years after being found guilty of perjury that he committed in 2006 in relation to the Civil case involving the News of the World. This left Mr Sheridan with a substantial award of damages. The case was referred by the Scottish Criminal Cases Review Commission (SCCRC) after last year leave to appeal was previously refused. This ruling was challenged in the inner house. However, the appeal was again refused.
