Mr Gavan drove his vehicle in to 6 children in Castlemilk, Glasgow on the 24th of March 2018. This attack was related to the death of Jamie Lee in the same area back in 2017 and it was another man who was the target of the attack. Mr Gavan pled guilty to attempting to murder all of the children and also pled guilty to attempting to murder the gentleman he was in dispute with, Mr McGregor. One child broke her neck as a result of the attack.
Mr Gavan was remanded in custody after pleading guilty at the High Court in Glasgow and he is due to be sentenced next month at Edinburgh High Court. The Crown narrated that this attack was related to a long standing family feud. Another male said to be with Mr Gavan at the time of the offence had his not guilty pleas accepted.
Mr Gavan was also facing a charge of attempting to pervert the course of justice but a not guilty plea was accepted to that charge. The Court was shown CCTV of the incident which showed a young girl being reversed over. Det Insp Peter Sharp stated: “This incident which unfolded in the afternoon of Saturday 24 March in Castlemilk was something which will no doubt stay in the minds of the young victims for a long time.”
