Jake Summers was convicted for the death of his friend Dylan Irvine following car crash. He pled not guilty to death by driving without due care but was found guilty of the offence at trial.
Summers was driving a red Ford Fiesta along the A90 at excess speed before he lost control of the vehicle and crashed into trees before going down an embankment. Emergency services were called and Dylan was pronounced dead a short time later. Summers was rushed to hospital in a critical condition and later charged with causing death by driving carelessly
He was sentenced to a community payback order with a requirement to complete 300 hours of unpaid work . In addition he has been banned from driving for three years and has been placed on a Restriction of Liberty Order, which will see him fitted with an electronic tag and having to abide by a daily curfew for the next 10 months.
