Eduard Maslov attacked Valerjis Litvins in a flat in Glasgow on March 2021. The accused had initially faced a murder allegation before being convicted of culpable homicide.

It was found that the accused had taken full responsibility for the death of the victim. The Court heard that Maslov had shouted and swore at the victim to leave his house and brandished a knife at him. As a result of this he repeatedly stabbed the victim on his head and arm.

The accused told the Court that he had been acting in self defence and also claimed that the victim had gone to the shop and returned badly hurt. The story was then described by ‘incoherent’ by the Court.

The accused was sentenced to 11 years at High Court in Glasgow
