Mr Muir, 31, has been sentenced to five years imprisonment for the attempted murder of a man in West Lothian in May of this year. Mr Muir will also be subject to three years supervision once he is released from prison. Lady Dorrian sentenced Mr Muir at the High Court in Edinburgh for the attack that involved a crossbow. Lady Dorrian stated “I am satisfied this is a case that can only be dealt with by a custodial sentence.” It was accepted by the Judge that such a charge would usually attract a higher custodial sentence but she was aware of Mr Muir’s ‘vulnerabilities.’
