Mark Campbell was found guilty for murdering his girlfriend through a sustained attack hours after suggesting she should discharge herself from hospital.
Mr. Campbell allegedly hit his partner repeatedly on her head and her body with a metal lever.
It was also discovered that several other women had also given evidence to assaults they had suffered from by Mr Campbell.
The accused was convicted of 14 charges with 4 counts of rape. The prosecution was given evidence of violent abuse that 6 other women had suffered from by the accused in the years leading up to the murder of his girlfriend.
The High Court of Edinburgh convicted Mr. Campbell for life and ordered him to serve at least a minimum of 27 years. He has also been added to the sex offenders register indefinitely.
