Nicola Sturgeon has stated that the Scottish Government is actively considering bringing in legislation to make it illegal for people to travel out with their local authority area depending on the level of restrictions in that area as part of the effort to tackle coronavirus.
At present people living in local authority areas in level 3 restrictions are being advised to remain there. If legislation is brought in to the effect that people are unable to leave their local authority area, those that did so could face a fine starting from £60.
This has been criticised as an overreach by the Scottish Government but with Nicola Sturgeon stating that it was about “keeping people safe” consideration continues.
