Representatives from the Judiciary, SCTS, COPFS, SPS Police Scotland, SLAB and the Scottish Government met last week and acknowledged that there is no single solution to the challenges of Custody Courts and the processing of warrant cases.
It was expressed that an immediate step is to be introduced in order to support the wellbeing of all those involved in the Custody Courts as time limits have been introduced on Custody Courts.
Sheriff Principal Aisha Anwar for the Sherrifdom of Glasgow and Strathkelvin said that “The measures introduced in the Guidance are designed to enable GEOAmey to prioritise resources and acknowledge the need to safeguard the wellbeing of all those involved in custody courts. These measures are unprecedented and temporary short term solutions to the current challenges faced by the courts.”
