The teenage boys – two aged thirteen and one aged fifteen- were at a bus stop on Niddrie Mains Road last weekend when they were approached by a group of eight youths.
The attack took place around 8:30pm on Sunday 3rd September, and left all three boys requiring hospital treatment. One of the thirteen-year-olds was stabbed, the other suffered lacerations to his ear, and the fifteen-year-old was punched.
A 12-year-old boy has been arrested in relation to the attack, which Police Scotland believe to have been racially motivated.
Police Scotland are reviewing CCTV footage and have issued a public appeal in an effort to identify the attackers.
Detective Inspector Keith Fairbairn said “I know there were members of the public in the area at the time of the attack and I am asking them to contact us with any information they may have.
“We are appealing for details on the group of youths, who were dressed in dark clothing.
“Perhaps you saw them somewhere else? Did you see them running off? Any small piece of information could assist us in identifying those responsible for these attacks.”
