A teenager has appeared at Greenock Sheriff Court in connection with the murder of a six year old on the Isle of Bute.
The accused is said to be known to the family of the victim, six year old Alesha McPhail. The teenager cannot be named due to his age and a woman has been arrested in connection with contempt of court over revealing his identity on social media. Detective Stuart Houston has paid tribute to Alesha’s family and thanked the community in Rothesay during the ‘challenging’ inquiry. He added: “I’d like to take this opportunity to personally thank Alesha’s family who have shown incredible bravery through what has been an unimaginable ordeal during these past few days.”
