An ongoing trial is taking place at Glasgow High Court as a former soldier; Mr Fitzsimmons was attacked as he got in his car in Clydebank, in April 2017. There are 6 men accused of attacking the victim, all of whom are alleged to belong to the same gang. All six men deny the charges.
The men are alleged to have targeted a number of victims specifically because of connections to rival gangs and there are numerous charges including attempted murder. In Mr Fitzsimmons case he alleges the men were all dressed in black and wore masks, they drove up beside is car and attacked him. He had to have a plate inserted in his arm as a result of his injuries from the attack. It was heard by the court that the victim had never been involved with crime but it was heard his brother is currently serving a jail term. The trial will continue at Glasgow High Court in front of Lord Mulholland.
