Sheriff Wade at Perth Sheriff Court has thrown out three cases stating she was annoyed by the lack of work carried out by the Crown on these cases. The cases which included a possession of a knife, an assault and a hit and run charge were all dismissed. The Sheriff refused the crown more time to prepare the cases.
The hit and run charge was dismissed as the Sheriff was of the view this was taking too long to prosecute. The fiscal depute stated when the case called: “All of the charges on the complaint are time barred. I would ask for the case to be treated as not called.” The fiscal could not give a reason why the cases were not prepared. The Sheriff refused to continue any of the three cases and stated the crown had now worked on the cases for around 3 months.
