Following an alcohol and cocaine binge, Christopher Rodgers, sexually assaulted a 15 year old school girl. He was sentenced to 36 months in prison after pleading guilty to the offence.

The victim, aged 15, told the police how she pretended to be asleep as Rodgers got into bed with her and began to grope her. She told how she went into “a state of shock and panic.”

He pled guilty on indictment to sexually assault. He also admitted failing to appear at court for sentence on August 7 this year, causing his victim further distress.

Rodgers solicitor told the court how his client had sought help since the offence to manage his substance abuse issues. The court held how he had lost his well-paid job and was struggling with substantial debts.

Sheriff Farquharson told him: “The facts of this sordid offence speak for themselves. These offences date back to 2021 but you, by virtue of your conduct and out of cowardice by failing to appear in court in August, have denied her closure and security for too long.”

His name was placed on the sex offenders register for a period of 10 years and that upon his release from prison he would be subject to a 12 month supervised release order.
