Mr Craig who carried out a “murderous attack” on a friend with screwdriver was jailed for six years. Prosecutor Mr McPhie told the court one of the wounds of the victim was life threatening. The victim broke into Mr Craig’s mother’s home and robbed her of her medicine.
He admitted stabbing the victim six times as a result after challenging him to a fight. This stabbing happened after the robbery when Mr Craig confronted the victim about it. Mr Craig was previously jailed for seven years in 2012 for stabbing a neighbour twice but did not serve the full sentence in this regard and was on remand.
Lord Beckett told Mr Craig: “Whatever he may have done to you and your family provides no excuse.” Mr Craig was annoyed as the victims robbery was only dealt with by a fiscal fine and it terrified his mother, who has medical issues and had to be hospitalised as a result.
