Anthony Redpath, 42, was sentenced to four years in prison for acting as a lookout in a planned attack on former gang member James Sheridan. Sheridan, who had been jailed for possessing drugs and £104,000 in cash, wanted to leave the gang while in prison, but the crime boss blamed him for the losses and ordered the assault. After Sheridan’s release from HMP Low Moss in May 2023, Redpath tracked his movements and kept watch outside a property in Coatbridge.

The crime boss and four gang members later broke into the house and brutally attacked Sheridan and his partner, Samantha Cooke, with machetes and swords. Sheridan’s injuries were so severe that he required a leg amputation. Although Redpath admitted to conspiracy to assault, the court accepted he was unaware of the planned level of violence and was not present during the attack.
