Cheyenne Naeb, a 26-year-old American, was sentenced to 20 months in jail after pushing a ScotRail staff member onto train tracks at Glasgow Queen Street station.
The incident occurred on February 1, 2023, when Naeb, frustrated for missing a train, verbally abused the staff member and shoved her with both hands, causing her to fall onto the tracks in front of an incoming train. He then walked away from the scene, crossing the tracks to another platform, where he was arrested after officers responded to a trespassing report.
The victim sustained extensive bruising and swelling to her hip from the fall and was treated at the hospital.
The court heard that Naeb’s actions posed a serious risk to the victim’s life, and the judge emphasized the need for accountability in cases involving abuse of rail staff.
Both ScotRail and the police condemned Naeb’s violent behavior, stressing that such actions are intolerable and will be met with severe legal consequences.
