HMA v Jason Gilmour 2019

Mr Gilmour, 29, has been convicted by the High Court in Glasgow of culpable homicide in respect of a man he was previously convicted of assaulting. Mr Hepburn was left with brain damage after an attack in 2012. Mr Gilmour received a 5 year and 4 month prison sentence in respect of an assault against Mr Hepburn but Mr Hepburn passed away as a result of his injuries in 2017. Dr Turner told the court during the High Court Trial: “I have no doubt Mr Hepburn’s death was as a result of complications of his traumatic brain injury.” Lady Stacey deferred sentence for a background report and Mr Gilmour is due to be sentenced next month.
