Steven McGarry, 37, was sentenced to six years and eight months in prison after police found a handgun and live ammunition at his home in Paisley.  During a search of McGarry’s two-bedroom home, police found the weapon and 15 rounds of ammunition hidden in a sports bag.

The gun had been recalibrated to fire live rounds instead of blanks, and McGarry’s DNA was found on several parts of the weapon.

He pled guilty to multiple firearms offences, including possessing a gun without proper authorization.

The modified weapon was discovered during a search of his home, along with 15 rounds of ammunition.

McGarry had a prior conviction in 2021 for which he was locked up for 44 months for his role as getaway driver in a shooting at a house in Stepps, North Lanarkshire.
