Police raided a property in Aberdeen on Thursday where they seized £88,000 worth of Class A drugs.
As officers were carrying out the operation, Michael Beaton, launched a block of cocaine at the
officers.
The packet hit Officer Daniel Vardy and upon impact. It burst open and as a result the officers
ingested some powder as it went in the air. Officer Daniel Vardy noticed his lips, tongue and throat
were going numb as a result.
Officers then tried to arrest the accused. In their attempts to so, Beaton punched Officer Daniel
Vardy.
He pled guilty to culpably and recklessly throwing a quantity of powder containing cocaine at police
officers which struck DC Vardy and caused him and DC Mark Rennie, DC Jordan Blyth and DS John
Pirie to ingest the substance.
He also admitted to being concerned in the supply of cocaine and heroin between April 5 and June
19 this year.
Sentencing has been deferred to allow for the preparation of background reports. In the meantime,
the crown have raised a case to recover the profits from the accused.
