Mr Gary Howieson, 28, admitted repeatedly striking James Slaven on the head in March 2017. Mr Howieson after being arrested admitted to the crime by saying: “A guy in Blantyre got his throat slit on Sunday. That was me. I chopped his ear aff.” The offence was completely unprovoked it was heard.
Prosecutor Mr Speed told the High Court in Glasgow that at 21:40 on 5 March 2017, police found Mr Slaven sitting in Main Street, Blantyre, with blood pouring from the back of his head. Judge Lord Mullholland told the offender that his remarks “showed a casual attitude to violence.”
