Mr Curry has received a six year period of imprisonment after pleading guilty to death by dangerous driving. He was also disqualified from driving for seven years. The victim was his friend who suffered severe injuries and later died after being air lifted to hospital. The accused stated he had fell asleep at the wheel and admitted the offence. His car went off the road on an embankment and hit a fence. The vehicle was travelling at 90mph. Mr Curry’s defence advocate stated on his client’s behalf: “He apologises to the family in this open forum. He sorely misses his friend.’’ Lady Scott at the High Court had told Mr Curry he had a “prolonged and persistent” episode of bad driving.
