A gang who were found guilty of producing £1.67 millon worth of “street Valium” have been jailed. This was said to have taken place in a paisley garage using a pill pressing machine for a year long period.
Four men were sentenced to prison periods ranging from five and a half years to three years. At the High Court in Glasgow, Judge Lord Burns said: “This drug was being produced on an industrial scale. You must have one of the major sources of what was described as a flood of this drug into Scotland…You were aware it would be illegal to produce this drug which has potential to cause serious harm to people who abuse it.” When police raided the garage they found over a million etizolam pills. Detective Baxter said at the men’s trial: “This was the biggest production of etizolam I’ve ever attended.”
