Luke Allan, 29, has been sentenced to life in prison with a minimum of 17 years for the murder of Andrew Ross, 52, in a violent attack in Peterhead, Aberdeenshire, in February last year. Allan and his brother, Ethan Carlyle, 23, were involved in a confrontation with Ross after he attempted to rob their home. Allan was found guilty of murder, while Carlyle was convicted of assault for striking Ross once with a knife.

The attack, described as “ferocious and sustained,” left Ross fatally injured, and he was found unresponsive on the road after the assault. Allan, with a significant criminal record, was sentenced to life imprisonment, while Carlyle, a first offender, received 300 hours of community service and one year of supervision.

The victim’s family expressed devastation over his death, and police noted that both men showed little remorse during the investigation and trial.
