William MacLeod, a 19-year-old, was sentenced to four years and two months in prison for a series of crimes, including armed robbery and dangerous driving.
On May 9, he stole a car in a violent carjacking before robbing an Inverness petrol station with a fake gun, taking £130. After the robbery, he led police on a high-speed chase, reaching speeds of over 120mph, while also driving under the influence of alcohol and without a license.
MacLeod was eventually caught when he lost control of the vehicle and crashed. In addition to his sentence, he was banned from driving for six years and two months. Judge Douglas Brown highlighted the lasting emotional impact on the victims, including the woman he carjacked and the petrol station worker
